Anthony Yauieb was elected as President of the Papua New Guinea Institute of Directors (PNGID) in May 2018 after first joining the Board as a Director in 2016.
Mr. Yauieb was previously Deputy Secretary – Economic and Financial Policy in the Papua New Guinea Department of Treasury. In this role, Mr Yauieb oversaw the policy arm of Treasury and provided advice to the Minister for Treasury and Government on a wide range of economic, budgetary, debt management, structural policy and public investment related matters. Mr Yauieb was instrumental in the design of the architecture and governance of the PNG Sovereign Wealth Fund embodied in its establishing Organic Law.
Mr Yauieb has experience on company boards including Ok Tedi Mining Limited, National Airports Corporation, Independent Public Business Corporation (now Kumul Consolidated Holdings).
Mr Yauieb has degrees in Economics from the University of Buckingham and Oxford University.
Gilichibi is currently the Chief of Member Services at NASFUND. He has extensive and diverse Superannuation Industry experience.
His experience ranges from technology and innovation around systems and processes, strategy development, good decision making, improving governance controls and structures, continuous improvement, leading and developing high performance teams at NASFUND for 10 years from 2004 to 2013, at Nambawan Super from 2014 to 2016 and re-joining NASFUND in January 2017.
He has a degree in Information Technology from the University of Canberra, a diploma in Economics from the International Training Institute and a Master of Business Administration from UPNG. Charlie is most passionate about creating enjoyable customer experiences that exceed expectations.
Des Yaninen is a young Papua New Guinean business leader passionate about empowering Papua New Guineans through business. He is Chief Executive Officer of NDB Investments (NDBI), a wholly owned subsidiary of the National Development Bank. NDBI is PNG’s first Business Incubator, first established in 1976 to coordinate the Stret Pasin Store Scheme which was a retail incubator. He is also Deputy Chairman of the PNG SME Corporation, a government agency tasked with developing SMEs in the country.
Mr Yaninen has worked in the development finance industry for well over a decade .With a personal drive to blaze new trails, he developed PNG’s first Women In Business product under NDB in 2010, created PNG’s first exclusive youth in business program in 2014, and developed a special flexible loan product for start-ups in the same year, introduced Mobile Food Carts for MSMEs into the PNG market in 2016, opened PNG’s first SME dedicated indoor markets in Port Moresby and Goroka in 2017, and is coordinating and developing other helpful products and services for SMEs.
He is also an avid technology enthusiast who builds websites in his free time, he has spoken to different audiences on e-commerce, digital disruption, and most recently artificial intelligence and it’s impact on the workforce by 2030.
Winner of the 2016 PNG Young Director of the year award, Des holds professional membership in CPA PNG, PNG Institute of Directors and possesses qualifications in Accounting, Management and Finance from PNG and Australia.
A Hanuabada motuan by birth, Mr.Vai has had a colourful professional career, spanning over forty years, both in the public and private sector. An Economist by profession, Mr.Vai’s career commenced within the public sector reaching the senior project officer level, fresh out from UPNG, in the then National Planning Office. He moved on to Department of Commerce & Industry and then to the then PNG Investment Corporation to pursue his new growing interest in investment and financial services industry, reaching the investment managerial role, within the corporation.
After attaining a masters degree in Business Studies (Management) in NZ, his interest moved him on to the development and growth of small to medium size businesses. This culminated in him joining the then Small Business Development Corporation. Also during this period his started to develop his side interest in training facilitation. He felt that, this interest complements the provision of consulting services’ role and responsibilities.
As his maturity, skills and experience broadened, so did his interest in managerial consulting. This aspect of his career eventually prompt his move into a number of reputable semi-government entities and private sector industries. His freelance consulting experience has also landed him with several GoPNG consultancies within then SBDC, DC&I, DNP&M & NSO.
Natural business knowledge maturity and understanding, further elaborated his interest in Board level roles and responsibilities. His links to PNGID strengthened his interest and skills in Board operations and concerns and hasn’t looked back since. He is currently an active board member on PNGID Board promoting good corporate governance practices as well as three other private sector company boards. He further holds professional membership status’ of both PNGID and AICD.
He also heads the UCoPNG UR Poreporena Circuit Council and a member of the Cricket PNG’s National Selection Panel, for his community and personal interest, respectively.
Sharon Kupp-Tengdui was elected a Director of the Papua New Guinea Institute of Directors in May 2016.
Sharon was admitted to practice as a lawyer in PNG in 2010 and is currently a lawyer with the Australia and New Zealand Banking Group (PNG) Limited (ANZ). She is also the Company Secretary for ANZ.
Sharon has a Bachelor of Laws Degree from University of Papua New Guinea and a Masters of Laws from Queensland University of Technology.
Vani Nades is an emerging female leader already making a significant contribution in the business community and PNG as a nation.
In 2014 Vani started her own business called Emstret Holdings Limited with great team made up of innovative young talented Papua New Guineans with 80% are female. Emstret is a licensed Internet Service Provider in Papua New Guinea and focusing on bringing access to the rural schools and communities and our company is also very diverse in its operations. She loves her charity work and has a charity foundation that focuses on impacting the rural communities through Education, Health, Clean water, solar solutions etc. She continues to advocate for youth development and also facilitates the Emstret school challenge programs in School Debates for the last 9 years nationwide and in the Pacific and the World School Debates, Spelling Bee and Poetry Slam. For the first time in the history of PNG and the Pacific a recent trip to Croatia representing PNG in the World School Debate Championship in Croatia July 2018.
Vani has overcome the odds to shine through success of innovation and entrepreneurship. In her spare time she loves her gym and Zumba not only to stay healthy and fit but as stress buster.
Bernard N. Eliuda is passionate about Good Governance and has worked as Company Secretary for Motor Vehicles Insurance Limited and Kumul Petroleum Holdings Limited. He graduated from the the University of Papua New Guinea in 2005 and got admitted to practice as a lawyer the same year. He has served in various law firms and companies as a Commercial lawyer and as Legal Officer since 2006 and continues to contribute to Papua New Guinea as a lawyer.
Bernard has also dedicated his time to serving the people of Papua New Guinea through Rotary Club of Lae and Cancer Relief Society in Lae as the Vice President under the guidance of the Cancer Oncologist Dr. Nibblet including helping a special friend with her BARET Project helping out people who live in drains in Port Moresby. He hopes to contribute more to the PNGID in improving its Board and sub-committees in the tenure as a Director.
